All those people who insist that obedience to the law does not grant salvation are correct. That is a plain, incontrovertible teaching of Scripture. But it is also a plain, incontrovertible teaching of Scripture that anyone who is saved through the merits and grace of Jesus Christ keeps His commandments and does His will (John 14:15; 15:14). Those who are in Christ Jesus in fulfilling the law through obedience (John 5:17), Paul in establishing it through doctrine (Romans 3:31) and all God’s saints in defending it through persecution (Revelation 14:12).
But which law? Certainly, the Ten Commandments, which are the foundation of God’s throne and government (Hebrews 9:1 – 5); not the ceremonial or sacrificial ordinances, which were done away with at the cross (Colossians 2:14).
